TRAINING
United States Cold Storage offers training to develop employee skills at all levels and in every department.
In-house education programs are conducted regularly to keep employees proficient in the procedures and technology the company uses in daily operations. United States Cold Storage is also an extremely active member of the World Food Logistics Organization (WFLO) and has educated hundreds of employees at The Refrigeration Research and Education Institute over the past several years.
Plant Managers, Chief Engineers, Operating Engineers, Office Managers, Transportation Managers and Superintendents participate in their own company-sponsored programs. Instruction focuses on job-specific skills as well as general warehousing and logistics knowledge. It is designed to ensure our management staff is current on industry issues and trends in addition to being expert in handling everyday business activities.
Line personnel (warehouse employees) also have similar training programs.
Each facility conducts a range of training programs with its staff in coordination with an in-house OSHA/EPA training coordinator who oversees all regulatory compliance. These programs include forklift safety, MSDS, RMP, Process Safety Management and HACCP.
USCS also offers specific advanced education for senior managers at the exclusive Swire Group Management training program at INSEAD, one of the leading global business schools located in Fontainebleau, France.
EDUCATION
All company employees are encouraged to participate in outside education programs. The United States Cold Storage Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) provides the funding to permit any level employee access to further education. TAP, along with the in-house training and industry programs is intended to help improve the skill levels of our employees.
