Welcome to US Cold Storage Syracuse—where teamwork, innovation, and dedication come together to create something truly special.
Syracuse isn’t just a facility; it’s a thriving, dynamic hub of excellence in the cold chain industry. Every day, our team pushes boundaries to deliver the highest standards in safety, customer care, sustainability, and operations.
Safety is at the heart of everything we do. It’s more than a policy—it’s a mindset. Our team is always looking for ways to improve, whether it’s adding grip tape to prevent slips in icy conditions, installing wheel chocks at every dock door, or rewarding employees who suggest new safety measures.
That dedication is why we’ve achieved over 1,000 accident-free days and why we made US Cold Storage history as the first facility to receive an AA+ rating in an unannounced BRCGS food safety audit.
But Syracuse is about more than just operational excellence.
We believe in taking care of people—our customers, our team, and the drivers who keep the supply chain moving.
Our driver’s lounge isn’t just a waiting area; it’s a space designed to show appreciation, with massage chairs, espresso machines, and a comfortable place to rest.
Our connection to the community runs deep. From volunteering at food banks to sponsoring local events, we make sure that Syracuse is a name people trust and respect. And we’re not just thinking about today—we’re planning for the future. Our 2027 expansion will add 15,000 to 20,000 pallet positions, bringing automation and efficiency to the next level.
With demand at an all-time high, we’re making sure we stay ahead of the curve, ready to serve our customers with even greater speed and reliability.
Sustainability is also a priority. We now run on 100% renewable energy, have transitioned to an electric yard truck, and are converting 70,000 square feet of grass into drought-resistant landscaping to reduce water use.
The secret to Syracuse’s success?
Our people.
We invest in our team, offering education assistance and creating a work environment that encourages growth, collaboration, and a bit of fun—whether that’s a game of pool in the breakroom or competing on our softball team. Many of our team members have advanced their careers through our programs, and we take pride in seeing them succeed.
Syracuse is a community built on excellence, adaptability, and a shared commitment to being the best. Whether you’re a customer, carrier, or Cold Crew member, we’re grateful to have you on this journey with us.

2027 Expansion Underway

Syracuse continues to operate at full capacity, while the demand for high-quality, reliable cold storage solutions continues to grow. To meet this increasing need and solidify our position as a leader in the cold chain industry, we are embarking on an ambitious 2027 expansion project that will transform our facility into one of the most advanced, efficient, and future-ready cold storage hubs in the nation.

This expansion isn’t just about adding space—it’s about revolutionizing the way we store, handle, and transport temperature-sensitive goods. By integrating cutting-edge automation, enhanced storage capabilities, and energy-efficient technologies, we are ensuring that Syracuse remains a top-tier facility that delivers exceptional service for decades to come.

Key Expansion Features
Increased Capacity:

Advanced Automation:
We are integrating Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS), AI-driven inventory management, and robotic pallet handling, all designed to improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
Sustainability & Energy Efficiency:
The expansion will feature high-efficiency refrigeration, LED lighting, improved insulation, and expanded EV charging stations. Our goal is to minimize environmental impact while maximizing operational efficiency.
Improved Distribution & Access:
New high-speed dock doors, expanded staging areas, and optimized truck routing will reduce congestion, improve carrier turnaround times, and streamline the shipping process.

+ Wheel chocks installed at every dock to prevent truck movement.

+ Grip tape added at dock entrances to reduce slip hazards in icy conditions.

+ Enhanced rack protection for secure product storage.

“Something as simple as adding grip tape has already prevented multiple slip incidents. That’s how proactive we are.” – Martin Cerrato, Chief Engineer

Pioneers in Sustainability

In Syracuse, sustainability is at the core of our operations, driving us to implement forward-thinking green initiatives that reduce our environmental impact while enhancing efficiency.
Our facility now operates on 100% renewable energy through a green tariff program, ensuring that all electricity comes from sustainable sources. As Chief Engineer Martin Cerrato puts it, “Switching to renewable energy was a no-brainer. It’s better for the planet and makes financial sense.”
To further conserve resources, we are replacing 70,000 square feet of grass with drought-resistant xeriscaping, significantly reducing water usage.
In addition, we have transitioned to a fully electric yard truck (EV), eliminating diesel consumption and reducing maintenance costs. This shift has already had a measurable impact, with Kannen Avila, GM, noting, “Our EV truck has cut emissions, improved efficiency, and made our facility even more sustainable.”
These initiatives reflect our commitment to innovation, efficiency, and environmental responsibility, ensuring that Syracuse remains a leader in sustainable cold storage.
Syracuse isn’t just a facility—it’s part of a larger ecosystem, and that includes our resident wildlife. A local pack of deer has made their home on our grounds, led by our unofficial mascot, Buck Norris. Their presence is a reminder of our commitment to respecting and preserving the environment around us. As Kannen recalls, “A hunter once called and asked if he could shoot our deer. The answer? Absolutely not.”
